Quite why I had a spell of drawing so many vicars I’m not sure. Recalling my childhood, I did attend a lot of church services including a Baptist Sunday school, a large Church of England as a choirboy and going with my mother to a Unitarian Chapel. I just enjoyed drawing the dog collars and the black cloth below – it’s surprising the amount of gravitas it gives the faces.
